Gratitude in the Barn: Reflecting on the Livestock Season & Planning for 2026

As we gather with family and friends this Thanksgiving, we’re reminded that the heart of youth livestock shows has always been about more than banners and buckles. It’s about the hard work, the memories, the barn time, and the people who show up—again and again—for each other and for the next generation.

At PacWest Showman, we’re incredibly thankful for the community we get to be part of: the breeders who raise outstanding animals, the families who spend long hours feeding and fitting, the businesses and sponsors who make shows possible, and the showmen—young and old—who bring it all to life.

🙏 The Season of Gratitude in Agriculture

In agriculture, gratitude is woven into the work. We’re thankful for every healthy calf, lamb, kid & piglet every safe trip to a jackpot, and every early morning in the barn that shapes character and commitment in our youth.

This past year, we’ve watched:

  • Families celebrate milestones and major wins

  • New kids enter the ring for the first time

  • Breeders step up to mentor and give back

  • Sponsors continue to invest in the future of livestock shows

If you’re part of this community—you are part of something bigger. And that’s something to be proud of.

🧤 Looking Ahead: 2026 Starts Now

While the season of thanks is here, so is the time to plan for 2026. Many families are already:

  • Bringing home their next steers, lambs, pigs, or goats

  • Mapping out their jackpot calendar

  • Evaluating what worked this year—and what they’ll do differently

Now is a great time to reach out to breeders and lock in your next project. If you haven’t already, explore our Breeder Directory and connect with trusted partners who care about more than just the sale.

❄️ Winter Barn Prep Tips (Because We're Practical Too)

Before the leftovers are packed up, here are a few quick reminders for winter livestock prep:

  • Check barn ventilation and bedding (cold + damp = health issues)

  • Keep feed consistent during colder temps

  • Watch water troughs for freezing

  • Stick to routines—animals (and kids) thrive with structure

💬 Final Thoughts

As we wrap up the year, we’re feeling incredibly thankful. Thankful for every kid who steps in the ring, every breeder who puts their heart into their program, and every parent hauling trailers down icy roads to give their kids this experience.

From all of us at PacWest ShowmanHappy Thanksgiving to our incredible livestock community.

Let’s keep building something special. Together.
